AAD Supports Education, Not Limitations, for Patients Using Acne Drug

New York (MedscapeWire) Oct 6 — The Denizen Gymnasium of Dermatology (AAD) supports didactics, not ascendancy, of physicians and patients using Accutane (isotretinoin) to happening severe cystic acne.

However, an advisory board to the US Food and Drug Establishment (FDA) recently heard assertion concerning Accutane and is considering placing it on a list of drugs that can only be obtained by registered physicians and patients.
“As dermatologists, we strongly believe that limiting right to Isotretinoin is a disservice to patients and erodes the patient/physician relation,” said Richard K.
Scher, MD, Head of state of the AAD. “The FDA’s regulation of it will severely affect the lives of tens of thousands of teenagers, men, and women.”
